The Worry Toolkit

Help your worried child understand their big feelings and feel safe and brave, without brushing the fear aside or telling them there is nothing to worry about. It’s a printable set of stories, activities, journal pages, and worksheets you and your child work through together, one page at a time, so a big worry becomes something they know how to handle instead of something that runs the whole day.

When worry takes over

This is for the worries that show up at bedtime, before school, and out of nowhere.

The worries come at bedtime, before school, and all through the day.

Your child gets stuck on the scary what-ifs, and it is wearing on both of you. You want to help them feel less fearful and more like the confident kid you know is in there.

One scary moment turned into a worry that will not let go.

A dog, the doctor's office, a new babysitter, a bee sting last summer. Something happened, and now the fear shows up every time it comes near. You want to help your child work through this specific worry.

Trying new things feels too big, so they cling and hold back.

A new school, a birthday party, joining in with a friend. Your child wants to, but the worry wins, and they stay glued to you instead. You want to help them take small, brave steps on their own.

Created with care

Created by Jess and a team who understand worried kids.

The Worry Toolkit was created by Jess VanderWier, a Registered Psychotherapist and mom of three, with a team of experts in child development and children’s mental health. They based it on research into what actually helps a worried child: not pushing the fear away, but helping your child understand it and learn that they can be the boss of their own mind. This is a practical tool for guiding those conversations at home. It is not therapy or a replacement for professional support when a child’s anxiety needs more.

If worry has been running your house, the pages are ready.

Picture the version where a worry shows up and your child knows what to do with it: name it, find the truth behind it, and remind themselves they are the boss of their own mind. That is what these pages are for. You can start with a single page tonight, and let the rest wait until your child is ready for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

We made it for children ages 3 to 9. You know your child best, so you do not have to do all of it at once. Start with the pages that match what your child is worried about right now, and come back to the rest as they are ready. For younger toddlers, you can adapt the activities by using colors to stand in for feelings.

It is meant to be done with your child, not handed over. Print a page, sit down together, and work through the story or activity while the worries come up. Caregiver tips on each page tell you what to say, and a few minutes at a time works better than one long sitting.

Yes. Throughout the toolkit you will find scripts you can use in the moment, plus caregiver tips on every page, so you are not searching for the right words while your child is upset.

Yes. It is a gentle way to introduce the idea of feelings, and the activities can be adapted for other emotions your child is working through, not only worry.

Most likely, because this does not rest on one talk landing perfectly. You get small pieces you can return to: a story, a poster on the wall, the Worry Table, a script ready for the next hard moment. The repetition is what makes it stick.

Yes. We made it with sensitive and neurodivergent children in mind. The visuals, stories, drawing, and activities give children more than one way to understand and revisit each idea, at their own pace.

Most free printables are a single page on one idea. This is a full set of 44 pages that walks your child through understanding worry, calming down, and feeling brave, in one place, with parent guidance and a do-it-together structure, created by a psychotherapist and a team of child-development and mental-health experts. You are paying for the sequence and the guidance, not just the pages.

The toolkit is licensed to the registered user and their household for personal, non-commercial use. Files must not be shared, distributed, or copied for other households or classrooms.

It is designed to be printed. Print the pages you want as many times as your household needs, and come back to it for years as new worries come up. Some pages can be read on a screen, but the posters, worksheets, and activities work best on paper, where your child can color them, point to them, and return to them.

It is one combined PDF you download and print at home. The pages are sized for US Letter and scale nicely to A4 if you need it. It is designed in color, but everything holds up in black and white too.

Your purchase goes through the Nurtured First checkout, and your printable download is available right after, with your order and receipt saved in your account.

No. It is educational support for worry and anxiety conversations between you and your child. If your child’s anxiety is intense or getting in the way of daily life, please reach out to a qualified professional. This toolkit can sit alongside that kind of support, but it does not replace therapy, medical care, or advice from someone who knows your child.

Because this is a digital printable toolkit, sales are final and cannot be returned or refunded. If you bought the wrong toolkit, contact us within 24 hours of purchase and before downloading. If you have trouble accessing the file, contact support@nurturedfirst.com and we will help. Read the full refund policy on the Refund Policy page.
